Deities

This article lists every deity known in Mersia.

Draconic Deities

The Deities, High Sixteen, or Pantheon, are the generally-accepted set of Draconic Gods that created and preside over certain concepts in Mersia.

Primaries

The Primaries are the first four gods generally credited with the physical creation of Mersia, and all life on Mersia.

Ix is known to be the most powerful of the deities, the god of death. Ix is also credited with the initial creation of the reality that Mersia and the surrounding space inhabits.

Et is the second-most powerful of the deities, the goddess of time. Et is also credited with creating the first language and writing system, which form the basis for Common Mersian Script.

Ro is the god of conflict, encompassing the ideal of resolution in dispute. Ro is credited with forming the basis of all known philosophy, as well as all mathematics. Ro is closely associated with the idea of probability, and is often prayed to by gamblers.

Lu is the goddess of life, encompassing the ideals of form, beauty, and nature. Lu is credited with physically shaping the bodies of every living thing and imparting each with a soul. Unlike the other three Primary deities, Lu is known to speak informally with mortals, often, and is the reason much of the history of the deities is known at all. Ro and Lu are considered to be equals in power. Lu is associated with medicines, and is often prayed to by doctors.

Secondaries

The secondaries are the next set of four gods, generally credited with the development of Mersia into a hospitable and bountiful world, and the creation of the physical laws which Mersia and the surrounding space obey.

Tul is the goddess of motion, encompassing the force of gravity and the orbits of celestial bodies. Tul is credited with the creation of the stars in the heavens, the moons, and the planets.

Durim is the god of potential, encompassing the process of growing from infancy to adulthood. Durim is credited with applying the selective pressure on life known as evolution.

Verdai is the goddess of sunlight, encompassing the process of nuclear fusion. Verdai is credited with fine-tuning the output of the Ixar system's eponymous star, Verdai to ensure that Mersia remains temperate.

Yenads is the god of space, balancing the laws of physics to ensure that behaviors at the micro scale properly reflected behaviors at the macro scale. Yenads is credited with the remarkable spatial stability surrounding Mersia.

Elementals

The Elementals are the third set of four gods, generally credited with the development of varying biomes and the geography of Mersia, as well as the weather patterns and oceans.

Ras is the god of Earth, encompassing the forces governing geological processes, and shaping the resulting landmasses. Ras is credited with raising the mountain ranges and sinking the river valleys and ocean beds.

Eliar is the goddess of Fire, encompassing the forces governing combustion. Eliar is credited with processes involving heat, such as lightning, internal combustion, explosive devices, and cooking. Eliar is often prayed to by bakers and cooks.

Larxais is the god of Water, encompassing the forces governing precipitation, erosion, and convective currents in the ocean. Larxais is credited with processes involving water, such as hydraulics, water jet cutting, swimming, and steam engines. Machinists and engineers often pray to Larxais.

Kuwyrd is the goddess of Wind, encompassing the forces driving jetstreams and weather patterns. Kuwyrd is credited with the favorable breezes that make round-trip navigation between Aland and Panarch so feasible, when traversing the Serenic Ocean. On the contrary, she is also associated with storms. She is often prayed to by sailors, as well as those in the path of deadly hurricanes.

Conceptuals

The conceptuals are the last set of four gods, generally credited with paving the way for intelligent life to emerge from the groundwork laid before.

Jagres is the god of sincerity, encompassing the ideals of truth and intention. Jagres is associated with the act of coming clean, no matter how difficult the truth may be. Jagres is prayed to by those undergoing uncertain relationship troubles.

Tughoi is the goddess of creativity, encompassing the ideals of originality and humor. Tughoi is associated with the process of invention, as well as the visual and performing arts. Tughoi is prayed to by artists, musicians, inventors, and performers, among others.
