External Magic is magic which affects others, or the environment around the caster. Magic such as throwing a lightning bolt, or forcing someone else to go to sleep, are examples of external magic.

It can be distinguished from internal magic by the fact that external magic cannot be directed at oneself. It requires at least the intermediate form of the open mana ritual to have been completed.
